EA Sports FC 26 Attributes Explained

You ever pick a 90-rated Striker and watch him miss everything? Two players with identical overall ratings can play completely different games, and the reason is almost always in the underlying attributes you didn’t bother checking.

Every player in FC 26 gets the same six headline stats on the front of their card: PAC, SHO, PAS, DRI, DEF, PHY. Goalkeepers add a seventh, GK, for the keeper-specific stuff. Each of those numbers is just a top-line average of underlying sub-attributes, and those sub-attributes are usually what tell you what kind of player you’re actually getting.

Here’s what’s under each one and which sub-attribute carries the most weight.

Attribute Code Sub-attributes The one that matters most
Pace PAC Acceleration, Sprint Speed Acceleration (tight spaces, short bursts)
Shooting SHO Finishing, Long Shots, Penalties, Positioning, Shot Power, Volleys Finishing and Positioning (decide one-on-ones)
Passing PAS Crossing, Curve, Free Kicks, Long Passing, Short Passing, Vision Vision and Short Passing (create chances)
Dribbling DRI Agility, Balance, Reactions, Ball Control, Dribbling, Composure Reactions and Composure (most important attributes in the game)
Defending DEF Defensive Awareness, Heading, Interceptions, Standing Tackle, Sliding Tackle Defensive Awareness (by a mile)
Physicality PHY Aggression, Jumping, Stamina, Strength Stamina (decides 90-minute performance)
Goalkeeping GK Diving, Handling, Kicking, Positioning, Reflexes Positioning (puts the Goalkeeper in the right spot before the shot)

A few things people miss, in no particular order:

  • Acceleration is usually more useful than Sprint Speed. The burst from a standing start wins tight battles. Top speed mostly shows up when you’re chasing a long through ball into open space.
  • Don’t sleep on Composure. It sits under Dribbling for some reason, but it’s what decides whether your Striker stays calm in front of goal or panics and misses what should be a tap-in.
  • Vision is what makes a creative midfielder. Two players with similar Passing numbers can play wildly different roles depending on how high their Vision sits.
  • Defensive Awareness does the heavy lifting for top defenders. A center back who positions well rarely needs to tackle. He’s just in the right place.
  • Watch Stamina if you care about the closing minutes. Low-Stamina players visibly drag in the last 15, and you usually feel it before you check the stat.
  • Many players underestimate Goalkeeper Positioning. Good positioning can make a keeper feel far more reliable than the Reflexes stat alone suggests.

When you’re comparing two players at the same position with the same overall, here’s the one attribute worth checking first.

Forwards

Position Sub-attribute Why
Striker (ST) Composure Decides whether one-on-ones become goals or wasted chances.
Right Wing (RW) / Left Wing (LW) Acceleration Wins the first three yards past a defender.

Midfielders

Position Sub-attribute Why
Center Attacking Midfielder (CAM) Vision Separates a real creator from a safe-pass merchant.
Center Midfielder (CM) / Center Defensive Midfielder (CDM) Short Passing The workhorse stat for recycling possession every match.
Right Midfielder (RM) / Left Midfielder (LM) Stamina Wide midfielders cover more ground than anyone on the pitch.

Defenders

Position Sub-attribute Why
Center Back (CB) Defensive Awareness Puts a defender in the right spot before the attacker even decides where to run.
Right Back (RB) / Left Back (LB) Stamina Modern fullbacks live on overlapping runs and recovery sprints.

Goalkeepers

Position Sub-attribute Why
Goalkeeper (GK) Positioning A Goalkeeper with great Positioning rarely needs elite Reflexes.

Every player profile on FC Ratings has the full breakdown, the six core numbers and all the sub-attributes that feed them. Combined with the player’s PlayStyles, you’ll get a much clearer picture of how the card actually plays than overall rating alone will ever give you.
